The Chevron oil company has made a gift of $2.5 million to a super PAC.

According to the Washington Post:

Chevron Corp. donated the money on Oct. 7 to the Congressional Leadership Fund, a super PAC focused on House races with close ties to Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio). The gift appears to be the largest contribution from a publicly traded corporation to a political group since the Supreme Court ruled in 2010 that companies could spend unlimited money on elections.

Many media outlets have covered this story, including Grist, which points out:

Last year, Chevron earned $26.9 billion in profits. This donation is .009 percent of what it earned in profits alone last year.

So this is still just the tip of the iceberg of corporate spending that will continue to drown out the voices of real people, until we reverse Citizens United, with a constitutional amendment to make it clear that people, not corporations, are in charge of America.
