Jeff Clements, Free Speech For People’s Co-Founder and Board Chair, has authored a new updated and expanded edition of his widely acclaimed book, Corporations Are Not People. Join Jeff for a special speaking event sponsored by Citizens for Economic Justice and the Public Interest Law Fellowship Program at UMASS Dartmouth School of Law on the evening of Wednesday, September 30th.

In this timely and comprehensive second edition, Jeff describes the history of the Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling, its damaging effects, and the growing movement to reverse it. The new edition is updated with information and analysis about the impacts of unlimited money in elections and the spreading “corporate capture of the courts,” resulting from the fabrication of “corporate rights” in the Constitution. Since the first edition, more than 200 Members of Congress, 16 states, and more than 650 cities and towns, have joined the call for a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United and to reclaim our democracy. This is a story of how community by community, state by state, we can restore a democracy governed by the people, for the people.
