Posted on November 21, 2025 (November 21, 2025) Share: Free Speech For People, a national legal advocacy organization leading the ImpeachTrumpAgain campaign, issued a new call today on Congress to impeach and remove Trump for threatening to execute six Democratic Members of Congress. “Donald Trump’s threats represent a serious and dangerous abuse of power, one that places the lives of lawmakers at risk and undermines the foundation of our democracy,” says Courtney Hostetler, Free Speech For People’s Legal Director. “This cannot be a partisan concern. A sitting president who calls for the execution of opposition lawmakers must be impeached and removed from office.” On November 18, 2025, six Democratic lawmakers, all of whom are currently serving in the U.S. Senate or the U.S. House of Representatives and who previously served in the military or in intelligence on behalf of the United States, released a short video that accurately stated to current members of the military and intelligence communities: “Like us, you all swore an oath to protect and defend this Constitution. Right now, the threats to our Constitution aren’t just coming from abroad, but from right here at home. Our laws are clear: You can refuse illegal orders; you must refuse illegal orders. No one has to carry out orders that violate the law or our Constitution.” On November 20, 2025, Trump called for the execution of the Members of Congress over these words. In one post, he wrote: “It’s called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these traitors to our County should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL. Their words cannot be allowed to stand – We won’t have a Country anymore!!! An example MUST BE SET. President DJT.” In another, he wrote: “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!” And he reposted a third party’s post: “HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD!” Free Speech For People has added this abuse of power as a new ground at its campaign website, www.impeachtrumpagain.org, with the following language: “It is a flagrant and dangerous abuse of power for Trump to call for the execution of Members of Congress. Impeachable in any context, Trump’s call for the execution of his political rivals is particularly dangerous in the current political climate, which Trump has fostered, in which lawmakers and judges have faced political violence and threats for opposing Trump’s policies.” Hostetler adds: “Our democracy only survives where power is restrained from becoming authoritarian, where our politicians face and cannot silence robust dissent, in which our lawmakers can express their position regardless of how favorable it is to the ruling party. The silencing of the opposition, the execution of opposition leaders, and the partisan capture of what should be an independent system of justice are tools of anti-democratic authoritarianism and oppression. Congress must recognize that a sitting president who threatens his political rivals with execution is committing a grave abuse of power, instigating political violence, undermining our democracy, and poses a danger the stability and legitimacy of our country. Congress must impeach. The Senate must convict. And Trump must be removed from office.”
