Constitutional lawyers at Free Speech For People helped to draft the articles of impeachment. The resolution outlines five articles of impeachment charging Bondi with high crimes and misdemeanors, including defying congressional subpoenas related to the Epstein files, violating the Epstein Files Transparency Act, abusing investigatory and prosecutorial powers for political retaliation, defying court authority, and committing perjury in congressional testimony. “The Attorney General of the United States is entrusted with one of the most solemn responsibilities in our democracy: to enforce the law fairly, impartially, and without political influence. Instead, Pam Bondi is breaking the law to protect pedophiles and prosecute Trump’s political opponents,” said Representative Lee. “This is about accountability, transparency, and justice. We deserve a justice system that serves the people, not one that is weaponized for political gain.” As the resolution states, Bondi “knowingly and intentionally abused the power of her office to shield individuals named in the Epstein files, such as political leaders and other influential individuals, including Donald J. Trump, from accountability and oversight by Congress.” The articles further detail how Bondi has used the Department of Justice to target political opponents and critics of the administration while shielding the President’s allies from accountability. “In all of this, Pamela Bondi has acted in a manner contrary to her trust as Attorney General and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice,” the resolution states. “These articles lay out in detail how Attorney General Bondi has weaponized the Department of Justice to protect the President and his allies while targeting critics and undermining the rule of law. Congress has a duty to defend the Constitution and to impeach and remove Bondi from office,” said John Bonifaz, President and Co-Founder of Free Speech For People. “An Attorney General who defies Congress, disregards federal law, and misleads the courts cannot remain in office,” said Courtney Hostetler, Legal Director of Free Speech For People. “The Constitution provides impeachment precisely for moments like this, when the integrity of our justice system and the rule of law are under attack. We applaud Congresswoman Lee for introducing these articles of impeachment against Attorney General Bondi.” “Impeachment exists to protect our constitutional system from exactly this kind of abuse of power,” said Ben Clements, Board Chair of Free Speech For People and a former federal prosecutor. “The Department of Justice must never be used as a political weapon to punish critics, shield allies, and undermine democratic institutions. It’s past time for members of Congress to uphold their constitutional duty and promptly impeach Bondi in the House and convict and remove her in the Senate.” Click here to read Rep.
