(April 10, 2026) – Free Speech For People, the national constitutional advocacy organization leading the ImpeachTrumpAgain campaign, and Bruce Fein, former associate deputy attorney general under President Ronald Reagan, today called on U.S. Representative John Larson to force a floor vote on his newly introduced articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump and urged House Democratic leadership to stop blocking the path forward. Under House Rule IX, articles of impeachment are considered to be privileged resolutions, and any member of the House may invoke that rule and force a House floor vote on such articles. Rep. Larson introduced 13 articles of impeachment on Monday, accusing President Trump of high crimes and misdemeanors including circumventing Congress’ war powers, militarizing domestic law enforcement, and directing the detention and deportation of individuals based on race, ethnicity, or political opposition. The introduction follows Trump’s threats to destroy “a whole civilization” if Iran did not comply with his deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, remarks that drew widespread condemnation from members of both parties. “Donald Trump has blown past every requirement to be removed from office,” said Rep. Larson. “His illegal war in Iran has driven up prices for American families and cost American lives.” Free Speech For People applauds Rep. Larson’s action and is now calling on him to go further. “We thank Congressman Larson for filing these articles of impeachment against this lawless president,” said John Bonifaz, a constitutional attorney and the Co-Founder and President of Free Speech For People. “But we need the Congressman to now take the next step and force an immediate floor vote on these articles at this critical hour for our nation. And, Democratic leaders in the Congress should stop standing in the way of such a vote.” “Why are they so scared of the I word?,” continued Bonifaz. “The majority of the people of this country recognize that Donald Trump is a threat to our republic and the entire world and they support his impeachment and removal from public office.” The call comes as a new national poll, conducted by Lake Research Partners and commissioned by Free Speech For People, finds that 52% of likely 2026 voters support impeaching President Trump, an extraordinary level of support just 14 months into his term. Support extends well beyond the Democratic base, with 55% of independent voters backing impeachment. More than one million Americans have already signed the organization’s petition urging Congress to act. On December 11, 2025, 140 Members of Congress voted to advance Representative Al Green’s articles of impeachment, a 77% increase in House support since the prior impeachment vote in June of last year. Free Speech For People argues that momentum is on the side of action, and that further delay only emboldens the president. “Impeachment of President Donald Trump is urgent,” said Bruce Fein. “How can any decent person indulge Mr. Trump’s Hitler-like declaration that ‘a whole civilization will die tonight’ with our tax dollars-paid weapons?” ###
