We are making great strides in our campaign to restore democracy to ‘we the people.’

Our legal advocacy campaign continues to challenge big money in politics and the fiction of corporate constitutional rights, and we are making progress across the nation to overturn Citizens United. We recently joined our allies in launching a ballot initiative in Arkansas, which is a major step forward in making Arkansas the 17^th state to call for a constitutional amendment and the first southern state to do so!

On other fronts:

• Presidential historian and Pulitzer prize-winning author Doris Kearns Goodwin joined FSFP Co-Founder and Board Chair Jeff Clements in co-authoring  this powerful piece published by Reuters on the call for a 28th
   Amendment; the essay, which Moyers & company cross-posted on its site, has generated significant traction and sharing on social media;

• On May 22, 2015, we filed with Demos, the Courage Campaign and the Equal Justice Society an amicus brief before the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in defense of Seattle’s living wage law, as McDonald’s and other major corporations continue to the claim that the law violates their corporate “equal protection” rights.  You can access a copy of the brief here and our blog posting about this filing here;

• The cover story of The Nation Magazine’s June 8, 2015 edition focuses on how the wealth primary undermines the right to vote.  We worked closely with the author of this piece and it highlights why we must continue to advance political equality arguments in the overall public discussion on money in politics.
