The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Editorial Board has called for the impeachment and removal of President Trump from office.

In a series of essays, the Inquirer lays out how Trump represents “a clear and present danger to the republic,” adding: “No matter which party is in power during the next Congress, the Inquirer Editorial Board believes that impeachment should be a top priority.”

Free Speech For People’s John Bonifaz, Ben Clements, and Courtney Hostetler contributed an op-ed to this series, stating:

The framers of our Constitution understood that the greatest threats to our democracy would not come from outside forces. They feared something else: a president who would abuse the powers of office, place himself above the law, and create tyranny.

This is a defining moment for our democracy. Members of Congress took an oath to support and defend the Constitution. They have the power and the responsibility to hold this lawless president accountable for his flagrant abuse of power through impeachment and removal. They cannot wait until democracy has fully broken down before acting.
