Corporations. The threat does not come from corporations that do business and amass wealth. It comes from corporations that use their wealth to build power for themselves by putting political candidates in office, dictating public policy and evading the law. In his book “Corporations Are Not People,” attorney Jeffrey Clements explains the history of corporate power in America. Clements, a Greenwich High School graduate and former Massachusetts assistant attorney general, wrote the book as part of a nationwide effort to overturn a 2010 U.S. Supreme Court decision that allows corporations to secretly give unlimited money to candidates through Super PACs.
