FSFP Legal Director Ron Fein recently appeared on Counterpoint to discuss the progress of ongoing investigations into the January 6th insurrection and the goal of the organization’s 14point3 campaign.

“The Department of Justice in particular has been going after the low-level individuals who stormed the Capitol…but they have not gone after any of the high-level officials that facilitated and helped organize this,” said Fein.

Free Speech For People has been urging Attorney General Garland to commit to establishing an independent Department of Justice task force to investigate—and, if appropriate, prosecute—Trump and his associates for federal crimes they may have committed, including the seditious insurrection on the U.S. Capitol on January 6th. FSFP also launched the 14point3 campaign urging Secretaries of State and chief election officials across the country to follow the mandate of Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment and bar insurrectionists, such as Donald Trump and his coup-plotting allies in Congress, from any future ballot.

“You can choose to be an insurrectionist or you can choose to be a member of Congress – but you can’t be both at the same time. And if the leadership in the House can’t not only see that, but take action upon it, then it’s really failing to defend democracy,” said Fein.
