Posted on December 26, 2019 Impeachment Share: FSFP President John Bonifaz recently joined WGBY to discuss the significance of a full and fair Senate trial following the House vote to impeach Donald Trump. During a debate with Republican State Committee Member Sid Starks, Bonifaz outlined the significance of holding Trump fully accountable for his abuses. “The clause that the Framers placed in the Constitution for impeachment is to deal with a direct and present threat to the Constitution, to the republic, by any official of the government. In this case it’s the President of the United States. He is a threat to our democracy and he must be removed from public office,” said Bonifaz. The House passed two articles on Trump’s abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, making him the third U.S president to be impeached. The Senate must now hold a trial to determine whether or not to convict and remove Donald Trump from public office. Watch the entire debate here.
