Washington State is in the lead this year in the movement for a 28th Amendment to the US Constitution to overturn the Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling and to reclaim our democracy.  Thanks to hundreds of volunteers throughout the state, including many of you, the WAmend campaign submitted last December more than 330,000 signatures from Washington State voters to qualify a measure for the November 2016 ballot calling for this constitutional amendment. In the fight against big money’s influence in our democracy, Washington State voters now have the opportunity to make their voices heard.  And, a campaign in California may soon succeed in placing a similar measure on the November ballot in that state.  Together, these statewide ballot campaigns will help propel this movement forward, and, with the passage of the Washington ballot initiative, I-735, Washington State will become the 17th state in the country to call for a constitutional amendment.

On Tuesday, June 7, Free Speech For People co-founder and President, John Bonifaz will join WAmend for a special evening conversation on the national movement to overturn Citizens United and reclaim our democracy. John will provide an update from the ballot initiative  in California and discuss what is happening in Washington to lead this fight. A question-and-answer segment will take place after the presentation.
