If something goes wrong with one of them, you would basically never know because you can’t audit the results,” said Oliver. Other late night shows including Full Frontal With Samantha Bee, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah and The Late Show With Stephen Colbert have also sounded the alarm about the need for paper ballots and the threat insecure voting systems pose to democracy. Following the recent failure of the Iowa Caucus app, Free Speech For People and National Election Defense Coalition issued a joint statement urging states to abandon voting systems connected to the internet and utilize hand-marked paper ballots.
