“If we don’t hold this president accountable, it might be too late by the time he’s gone. Years from now our children and grandchildren will look back on this era and judge us by what we did Now is not the time to shrink from our responsibility,” Rep. Jim McGovern told the crowd at the June 15th Day of Impeachment Action Rally in Northampton, MA. McGovern, who chairs the House Committee on Rules, first announced his support for an impeachment inquiry following Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s public statement on May 29th.

The number of legislators in favor of an impeachment inquiry has continued to rise following the release of Mueller’s redacted report in April. Over seventy members of Congress currently support an impeachment inquiry.

Congressman McGovern was candid about his position on impeachment while addressing the enthusiastic crowd. “I think we have a moral obligation to open up an impeachment inquiry against Mr. Trump,” said Rep. McGovern.

Notable speakers at the Northampton event, including Free Speech For People President John Bonifaz and Massachusetts State Senator Jo Comerford, were among those calling for an immediate impeachment inquiry.
