At a moment of escalating constitutional crisis, a first-of-its-kind legal symposium confronted a question that Congress has failed to answer:

What does accountability look like when a president defies the Constitution in plain sight?

Convened by Ralph Nader and Bruce Fein and co-sponsored by Free Speech For People, RootsAction, and Essential Information, the April 8, 2026 symposium brought together leading constitutional scholars, legal experts, and advocates to lay out the case for impeachment and removal of President Donald Trump.

Legal experts presented a comprehensive constitutional case for impeachment focused on three core areas:

  • The usurpation of Congress’s war powers;
  • The risk of interference with democratic elections;
  • Patterns of bribery, corruption, and abuse of power;

The symposium took place amid renewed efforts in Congress to pursue impeachment, including the introduction by Congressman John Larson of Connecticut of new articles outlining multiple abuses of power committed by Trump.

And it comes as public demand for accountability continues to grow.

Across the country, millions of Americans are demanding accountability. They are organizing, signing petitions, and demanding that Congress fulfill its constitutional duty.
