Posted on June 19, 2018 Share: Senior Counsel Shanna Cleveland joined Sonali Kolhatkar to discuss Free Speech For People’s recent call to the FEC and the US Department of Justice to investigate whether a $1.6 million hush money payment was actually intended to cover up an affair between President Trump and another former Playboy model to prevent the story from damaging the President’s re-election campaign. Elliott Broidy, the deputy finance chair of the Republican National Committee is alleged to have made the $1.6 million payment. Free Speech For People has called on the Federal Election Commission and the United States Department of Justice to hold candidates and their agents accountable to the rule of law and to investigate whether the payment violated federal campaign finance law.
