On October 27, 2016, the St. Petersburg City Council convened for a Committee of the Whole meeting to consider our proposed ordinance to abolish super PACs and ban foreign corporate money in local elections. Free Speech For People, American Promise-Tampa Bay, the League of Women Voters of St. Petersburg, and other allies played a critical role in supporting this effort.

Joining members of Free Speech For People’s legal team in support of the ordinance were: FEC Commissioner Ellen Weintraub, University of Chicago Law School Professor Al Alschuler, and Harvard Law Professor John C. Coates.
