As we shared recently, on October 5, 2020, we won a major victory for Arizona voters and for our democracy. A federal judge issued a ruling in response to our lawsuit to extend the voter registration deadline by over two weeks to October 23 in Arizona in the midst of the pandemic.

Following an appeal by the Republican National Committee, the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit reduced the extension for the voter registration deadline and ordered voter registrations to conclude on October 15.

Though the voter registration deadline extension received in the initial ruling was reduced, in the additional ten days provided for registration due to our case, over 35,000 new voters were registered in Arizona and are eligible to vote in the upcoming general election.

Free Speech For People, along with the law firms of Emery Celli Brinckerhoff Abady Ward & Maazel, and Osborn Maledon, were honored to represent the plaintiffs in this case, Mi Familia Vota, the Arizona Coalition for Change, and an individual voter registration organizer.
