(WASHINGTON) — Today, U.S. Representatives Ted Deutch (D-FL), Jim McGovern (D-MA), Jamie Raskin (D-MD), and John Katko (R-NY) reintroduced H.J. Res.1, a bipartisan constitutional amendment to get big money out of politics and restore democratic power to the American people. Free Speech For People supports H.J. Res.1, also known as the Democracy For All Amendment.

Since its founding in January 2010,FSFP has been at the forefront of the movement to amend the Constitution to reverse the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision. In addition to supporting the Democracy For All Amendment, the organization supports the Free and Fair Elections Amendment and the People’s Rights Amendment — as part of a series of Democracy Amendments to ensure that all Americans have an equal vote and equal opportunity to participate in U.S. elections. FSFP President John Bonifaz shared this statement today on the re-introduction in Congress of the Democracy For All Amendment:

“Now more than ever, we must stand up to protect our republic. Across the political spectrum, Americans want a constitutional amendment which will reclaim our democracy. The Democracy For All Amendment would allow for overall campaign spending limits and would end the big money dominance of our elections. We applaud the re-introduction of this amendment, and we urge Congress to pass it and send it to the states for ratification,” said Bonifaz.
