As Director of Advancement, she will lead the expansion of the development, marketing, and fundraising capacity of the organization. Prior to joining Free Speech For People, Ms. Barrali was the Director of Advancement at 826 Boston, a youth writing and publishing organization. In her eight-year tenure at 826 Boston, she led the expansion of the organization’s revenue by more than 200%, successfully spearheaded the organization’s first capital campaign, and secured many large, multi-year gifts. Before joining 826 Boston, Ms. Barrali worked for the Nonprofit Quarterly Magazine and held several leadership positions at that publication in fundraising and operations and became the magazine’s publisher in 2011. Ms. Barrali began her career in finance and administration at United For A Fair Economy, where she caught the bug for fundraising. She received her BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from Appalachian State University in North Carolina. What motivates Ms. Barrali is connecting people with causes they care about, and bringing vital resources to social movement organizations. She has dedicated the entirety of her career to working for social justice. “We are thrilled to have Kristin Barrali join Free Speech For People as our Director of Advancement,” says FSFP President John Bonifaz. “Kristin brings incredible fundraising and social justice advocacy experience to this role. With her years of dedication to this work, we look forward together to building further Free Speech For People as a leading force in the country in the fight for our democracy.”
