Amalfi on the expedited appeal of a federal district court judge’s ruling blocking the North Carolina State Board of Elections from reviewing whether Rep. Madison Cawthorn is disqualified to appear on the 2022 primary ballot under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment (the Insurrectionist Disqualifications Clause). Cawthorn filed this federal lawsuit after voters brought a challenge under 14.3 to his eligibility before the North Carolina State Board of Elections.
