Free Speech For People seeks to hire a Temporary Administrative and Development Associate to assist in overseeing the administrative operations of the organization and to serve as a member of the development team. This is a temporary, 13-month, full time, fully benefited position. The salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience. This position is remote with the option to work in the Austin, TX office.

Free Speech For People, is a national nonprofit nonpartisan organization working to renew our democracy and our United States Constitution for we the people. Since our founding in January 2010, on the day of the Supreme Court decision in Citizens United v. FEC, we have served as a leading force in the country to defend our Constitution and to reclaim our democracy through our leadership initiatives to get big money out of politics; defend the fundamental right to vote and our elections; challenge corruption; fight corporate abuse of power; and advance political equality for all.

Responsibilities of the Administrative and Development Assistant

Administrative duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with maintaining financial processes for organization including accounts payable/accounts receivable and expense allocation tracking;
  • Maintain systems of organization, include data tracking and management;
  • Assist with annual audit, as needed;
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of expense accounts;
  • Serve as a liaison to vendors and other organizational contacts;
  • Light communications work, as needed, including blog post drafting, social media posts, and website maintenance;
  • Draft payroll and track staff leave;
  • Assist in monitoring of staff lobbying reports; and
  • Organize job applications and provide communication for hiring.

Development duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage donations processing, including donation entry, acknowledgement, and other tracking;
  • Assist in preparing for special events and projects;
  • Assist in donor outreach, including donor list management, mailings, and other cultivation efforts;
  • Perform online donor research.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 3-5 years administrative and development experience;
  • Minimum 2 years experience with donor and CRM databases required, EveryAction preferred;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs;
  • Familiarity with WordPress or other website management service;
  • Experience in developing and managing systems of organization;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight;
  • Highly detail oriented with superior organization skills;
  • Commitment to the mission of the organization;
  • Previous experience working in a nonprofit setting preferred.

Location: This is a full-time, fully remote position. If the candidate resides within or near Austin, TX, a physical office space is available.

Salary Range: $55-65K, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, a comprehensive benefits plan is offered, including 100% employer paid dental, vision, and medical health coverage.
