Free Speech For People is seeking a Campaign Associate with organizing experience to join a cutting-edge non-profit fighting for democracy.

Free Speech For People, is a national nonprofit nonpartisan organization working to renew our democracy and our United States Constitution for we the people. Since our founding in January 2010, on the day of the Supreme Court decision in Citizens United v. FEC, we have served as a leading force in the country to defend our Constitution and to reclaim our democracy.

In 2021, Free Speech For People launched the 14Point3 Campaign, a new and pathbreaking initiative to disqualify candidates involved in the January 6, 2021 insurrection under the Fourteenth Amendment’s Insurrectionist Disqualification Clause (including former President Donald Trump, Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene, Madison Cawthorn, and others). Since the launch of this campaign, we have received widespread media coverage of our work to hold elected-officials-turned-insurrectionists accountable to this constitutional provision; increased public awareness and knowledge on the Insurrectionist Disqualification Clause; and built a nationwide movement of support for this campaign.

Free Speech For People is a leader in the fight to advance model legislation that ends political spending by corporations with significant foreign investment. Our model legislation has been introduced at the federal, state, and local level. In support of our model legislation, we work in coalition with lawmakers; local and national organizations; key stakeholders; and activists and local communities.

The Campaign Associate will work directly with the Campaign Director to help build and expand the 14Point3 campaign and to advance further our model legislation to end foreign-corporate spending in U.S. elections, along with work on other related democracy campaigns.

Our other recent projects include litigation challenging illegal intimidation of voters, voter suppression laws, and insecure voting systems; legislation to eliminate super PACs; and comprehensive model legislation to hold social media companies accountable when they engage in targeted amplification of disinformation and threats of violence on their platforms. Most of our projects involve bold new approaches to advocacy and organizing and we have a track record of success in advancing our initiatives.
