We are excited to welcome Gillian Cassell-Stiga to the Free Speech For People team as our new Special Counsel. Before joining Free Speech For People, Ms. Cassell Stiga was an associate at Beldock Levine & Hoffman LLP in New York, where she litigated federal civil rights cases nationally, with particular focus on speech and assembly, police misconduct and excessive force, and conditions of confinement. Ms. Cassell-Stiga also investigated and brought class action litigation against the City of New York on behalf of individuals denied rights under the US Constitution and the Americans with Disabilities Act after their arrest. She also represented women subject to sexual assault while confined in federal facilities, pursuant to the Federal Tort Claims Act and Bivens v. Six Unknown Named Agents.

Additionally, Ms. Cassell-Stiga has worked in corporate governance, human rights, and nonprofit strategy for fifteen years and presently serves on the board of not-for-profits providing innovative human rights and youth development programs worldwide. Ms. Cassell-Stiga obtained a M.P.A from The Harvard Kennedy School, a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, and a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of Business.
