Posted on October 26, 2020 Election Protection Share: Free Speech For People Legal Director Ron Fein recently appeared on The BradCast to discuss a new lawsuit filed on behalf of a voting rights group against President Trump, Attorney General Bill Barr, and Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf for voter intimidation. “When President Trump threatened to send sheriffs and law enforcement and everybody to polling places, millions of Americans heard that in the context of the violent law enforcement attacks on peaceful protesters that Trump, Barr and Wolf ordered this summer…So when Trump makes these threats they come in a very particular context showing that he and the people that work for him are willing to carry them out,” said Fein. The lawsuit, which was filed on behalf of Mi Familia Vota Education Fund and several voters, seeks a preliminary injunction restraining Trump and the other defendants from continuing to engage in alleged unconstitutional and illegal intimidation. The plaintiffs allege that those named in the lawsuit are in violation of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the Ku Klux Klan Act, and the U.S. Constitution. Listen to the full interview here.
