States race to increase donation limits to counter influence of outside money Posted on December 16, 2013 (July 16, 2021) Defending Key Reforms In response to the flood of outside money in politics, states from Alabama to Wyoming are boosting donation limits to rake in bigger contributions for their campaigns. Nine states have approved higher campaign contribution limits. Most recently in Michigan, when on Thursday a new measure was approved that would double to $6,800 the amount of money a candidate for statewide office can accept from individuals. Read More

New Poll Shows 97% Want To End Corruption in Politics Posted on December 4, 2013 (July 16, 2021) Corporate Abuse of Power According to new poll results from Represent.Us, 90% of respondents said they’d support a law that imposes tough new campaign finance laws. When “campaign finance” was changed to “corruption,” that figure rose to 97%, with 72% saying they would strongly support such laws. Their poll results show that the issue is bi-partisan, with 82% of Democrats and 83% of Republicans saying reducing corruption is important. Read More
