Free Speech For People is honored to receive a new grant award from Craig Newmark Philanthropies. The funds from the award will go towards our work to challenge corruption, secure free and fair elections, and defend our democracy!

Craig Newmark Philanthropies works to protect the values that America aspires to: fairness, opportunity, and respect. We are grateful to receive this critical support from Craig Newmark Philanthropies and to work together to strengthen our democratic process.

With this support, Free Speech For People will carry out the following key initiatives:

• Challenging foreign influence in elections: Free Speech For People has researched, drafted, and fought for state and local legislation to fight political spending by foreign-influenced corporations. In 2023, Minnesota became the first state to enact our model legislation to prohibit foreign-influenced corporations from spending money in elections. Similar legislation is being consider in California, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New York, and Washington. Click here to learn more!
• Fighting for free and fair elections: Free Speech For People has taken legal actions in multiple states to challenge voter intimidation, as well as laws that seek to suppress and disenfranchise voters. Our ongoing work to protect the right to vote has already yielded major victories in Minnesota, Texas and other states. Click here to learn more!
• Advancing new Democracy Amendments: We have drafted and are now advancing a series of constitutional amendments including the Free and Fair Elections Amendment to end big money dominance of our elections; the Right to Vote Amendment; an amendment to abolish the Electoral College; and the Equal Rights Amendment. • Holding elected officials accountable to Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution: Free Speech For People has launched a campaign calling on state election officials across the country to uphold Section 3 of the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which disqualifies all insurrectionists who engaged in the January 6, 2021 insurrection from holding future public office. In support of this campaign, we have filed a series of legal challenges against former president Donald Trump in multiple states and continue to build a grassroots movement in support of holding him accountable to the Constitution.
