Posted on October 27, 2020 Election Protection Share: FSFP Legal Director Ron Fein recently appeared on Discovery, a University of Washington Law School Podcast, to discuss this unprecedented election as well as Free Speech For People’s work on election security. “Free Speech For People as well as other non-profit organizations, and in some cases others, have brought a series of lawsuits related to the election in different states, addressing different issues…One case in Arizona, which is called Mi Familia Vota vs. Hobbs, challenged the state’s voter registration deadline,” said Fein. Free Speech For People, on behalf of Mi Familia Vota, filed a lawsuit challenging the premature voter registration deadline in Arizona during the COVID-19 pandemic. A federal district court in Arizona ruled to extend the voter registration deadline by ten days, allowing over 35,000 more voters in Arizona to participate in the upcoming November election. During the conversation Fein also discussed Mi Familia Vota vs. Abbott, the lawsuit challenging Texas Governor Abbott’s mask exemption at polling places, and FSFP’s recent lawsuit against President Trump, Attorney General Bill Barr, and Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf for voter intimidation.
